You can now launch any app and it'll open in a freeform window. Close it and reopen it a couple of times, until you notice the launcher disappear in the background and only the wallpaper remain. Go back to your homescreen and tap the Taskbar app drawer icon. Then turn Taskbar on with the toggle at the top of the app. You'll now see a floating app drawer icon in the bottom left of your screen.Ĭlear all your recent apps, because they need to be freshly launched to open in Freeform mode.

Install Taskbar from the Play Store (you'll find the link in the widget below).Įnable Freeform window support in the app. Now go back to Settings -> Developer options and find Force activities to be resizable (it shows at the bottom of the list for me). Depending on your browser, select Run (in Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox). The setup requires a couple of steps, so follow along:Įnable Developer Options on your phone by going to Settings -> About phone -> Build number and tap that several times until you see that you're now a developer. Remember a one-time purchase version of Office is licensed for one install only. Taskbar, by developer Braden Farmer, is a fast app-switching floating taskbar that lets you open apps in Freeform mode.

Instead, the Freeform APIs were being made available for OEMs in case they want to implement them on their own phones.īut those of you with a little bit of patience and some basic know-how (or at least the ability to follow instructions properly), were able to activate Freeform on their own Android N phones and tablets with some adb commands. If, like me, you've hung your modding/tinkering cap a while ago, you'll be happy to know that there's now a third-party app that does the trick, no adb or root needed. But we later learned that Freeform wasn't going to be enabled on any existing Nexus devices, not even the Pixel C which would benefit a lot from it. Instead of being limited to two apps on top of each other or side by side, Freeform would let you open as many apps as you want and resize them any way to fit on the screen. When the Android N developer previews were released, we learned about a hidden "Freeform mode" that takes multi-window to a whole new level.
It should launch its app list and then any app you choose in Freeform mode from the first go. Instead, just go back to your empty Recents screen and tap the Taskbar app drawer icon from there. After you clear your recent apps, you don't need to go back to the homescreen and open Taskbar then close it several times, hoping it'll make the launcher disappear in the background. Braden has told us that there might be a more reliable way to launch Taskbar.If none of this helps the best thing you can do is talk to Paradox tech support - ultimately the launcher is something they created and know far better than we do, so they are best placed to help.

If you are doing that, installing HOI4 on your main partition (for most PC users, this is your C: drive), keeping your mod folder there, and not using any folder redirects, can help. One known issue with the new launcher is that it doesn't play nicely when you use non-standard partitions for your mod folder and HOI4, or using any folder redirects. You can find all the download links to Kaiserreich here. It can be worth trying other methods of installing the mod if one isn't working. Paradox is aware of the issues users are having with the new launcher, and have their own troubleshooting advice, so looking into that is another option.

Now re-subscribe to your mods and proceed.Delete a file called mods_registry.json.Delete the mod folder and everything in it.Find the folder where your HoI4 saves are kept (it's probably going to be in your Documents folder, some variation on C:\Users\YourName\Documents\ParadoxInteractive\Hearts of Iron IV - once you get there, you'll see folders for "logs", "save games", "mod", etc.).
